Was fortunate to be of interest to Rob Williams who is documenting local makers. Looking at the photograph I realise how much it reflects my location in Queensland, the intense bright sky, the two wall mounted fans, and the opposing roller doors to catch the breeze.

Paul Dupré-Lafon, sideboard, 1940’s
Oak-veneered wood, oak, parchment, leather and brass.
Trained as an architect, he used beautiful materials and made furniture for a small very wealthy clientele. Inspired by cubism, his work is completely modern with little reference to past forms of decoration. He never exhibited publicly, though he did create a number of designs which were produced by Hermés.
